Exorcism in Christianity and Catholicism

The United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio is one of the official U.S. seminaries that treats supernatural aspects as real and even have multiple conferences that focus on divine healing. This tends to go against the common upper-middle class American Protestantism belief. Non-Catholics refer to casting out demons as “spiritual warfare and deliverance” and Catholics refer to this act as “Exorcism.”

I was taught that there are invisible and spiritual forces out there that are undetectable by any scientific instruments. It is a general Christian belief that demonic activity occurs regularly and that there is a constant battle against evil. The phenomena has been documented across cultures and across time. There are many biblical mentions of demons and exorcisms. The New Testament even commands believers to battle demons.

I was always taught that the Methodist Church has appointed people to handle deliverance or exorcisms and that they have strict guidelines about determining whether or not an exorcism is actually necessary. My father always remained adamant that the need for an exorcism is actually very rare. For the purpose of this blog post, I want to be clear that this post in based on my personal opinion gathered from information that I was taught. Please feel free to do your own research and come to your own conclusions on the subject.

The Roman Catholic Church is more commonly known for performing exorcisms. Despite what you see in the popular films, it is not done on a regular basis. The guidelines are very strict and each case is investigated thoroughly. It is very rare for an exorcism to be authorized and exorcisms are not considered a Sacrament. Unlike Christians, most Catholics believe that if a priest did not obtain special permission from the bishop, he can still perform a prayer of deliverance but it is not considered to be a full exorcism. It also does not include addressing the evil spirit directly. Therefore it is not recommended for cases of possession. However, in cases of a real possession, priests must never conduct solemn exorcisms without the permission of a bishop. They can only assist in exorcism through prayer and helping the exorcist. The only formal exorcism rites sanctioned by an established church can be found in the Ritual Romanum.

In Christianity, exorcism is better known as “casting out” or “spiritual warfare and deliverance.” It is the practice of casting out demons from someone who has been deemed to be possessed. The person who is performing the “exorcism” or “casting out” is commonly known as the exorcist. The exorcist is usually a minister, a lay person, or an individual who is believed to have special powers or skills. However, it is common for many Christians to believe that any mature Christian can perform an exorcism, not just members of clergy. Most Christians believe that the authority to cast out demons is given to them by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (also known as the Holy Trinity).

My father stressed that before determining that a person is suffering from a spiritual issue, the person should be assessed by a medical doctor to rule out any medical or psychological conditions that may be causing the symptoms they are experiencing It is also important to make sure that the person is not experiencing symptoms caused by medications, alcohol or drugs.

Exorcisms should never be performed on someone who has not been properly examined by a medical doctor first.

After all medical and psychological conditions have been ruled out by a medical doctor, the “possessed person” is not labeled as “evil” or held wholly responsible for their actions. The possessed person is considered to be an unwilling person who is manipulated by a demon. This usually results in harm to self or others and for this reason, exorcism is believed to be a cure instead of a punishment. the Exorcist and their assistants must do everything possible to ensure that proper precautions are taken so that no one (including the possessed individual) is harmed during the exorcism.

The majority of exorcisms usually include at least one or more of the following: prayers, scripture, gestures, symbols, sacred or blessed religious items. God, Jesus and archangels are invoked and asked to intervene during the exorcism. My father also stressed the importance of having at least two spiritually mature adults, preferably clergy or laymen, performing the exorcism.

Lynnside Manor, Monroe County West Virginia

I took these photos and did this research when I visited Sweet Springs in 2014. This place is amazing. It is very close to Sweet Springs Resort.

harpershouseoftravel

img_5071Lynnside Manor is located in Monroe County, West Virginia and is the main building of the Lynnside Historic District. Lynnside is a Greek Revival structure built in Jeffersonian style. It was built in 1845 and was the ancestral home of the Lewis family of Virginia. The Lewis family founded the Sweet Springs Resort and St. John’s Catholic Church. St. John’s was the first Catholic Church in the area.

img_5069-2During the Civil War, General David Hunter and his Union soldiers raided the mansion and the General ordered the mansion to be burned. It is believed that General Hunter’s harsh treatment toward the Lewis family was because Mrs. Lewis was the daughter of Confederate General John Floyd. According to local folklore, Mrs. Lewis was a brave and resourceful woman who repeatedly put out the fires set by the drunken Union soldiers until they left. The soldiers left very little food or fuel…

Harassment continues on YouTube. Props to YouTube.

After my YouTube livestream video about stalking and harassment, my trolls sent privacy violations notices to YouTube saying that I was violating their privacy.

So I responded because I wasn’t sure where my privacy violation was and obviously I don’t want to put anyone’s privacy at risk for exposure. However, I couldn’t find the violation so I asked YouTube for clarification.

Well, props to YouTube for their response:

So apparently my stalker thinks it’s perfectly acceptable to make up fake dating ads, escort ads and many other things using my name, pics, phone number and address and then VOLUNTARILY come to my blog to post disgusting things PUBLICLY using their email address, fake emails AND agreeing that their IP address will be disclosed when commenting on my blog but they are concerned about THEIR privacy and report a privacy violation to MY YouTube channel that they claim not to stalk!! HAHAHA! PATHETIC COWARDS!!!!!

Apparently YouTube agrees with me on this one, I’m NOT violating THEIR privacy!! Sorry cowards, keep making fools of yourselves and lying. I will just stick to the TRUTH which is that YOU are WATCHING, STALKING, and HARASSING ME!!!

How else would you be able to comment on my blog and complain about my YouTube Channel? Troll yourself all you want and try to blame it on me. It’s not that difficult to PROVE  who is honest and who isn’t.

Sad, sad, self proclaimed “para-celebrities” trying to pick on an “ugly nobody” who lives in a “shack.”

I feel sorry for you.

You’re in my “dark witch-Christian preachers’ daughter” prayers!

The Duppy and The Jumbee

In the islands of the Lesser Antilles, ghosts and spirits are called the Jumbee. The Jumbee  are usually regarded as being malevolent and are also called Mendo. They are mythological spirits or demons originating in Caribbean  folklore. It is believed that people who have been evil during their lifetime are also destined to be evil (Jumbee) in death.

While I was visiting the West Indies this past September, I was able to spend time with many of the locals. Of course we discussed spiritual beliefs and I was able to participate in a few spiritual experiences.

The locals explained to me that they use the word Duppy to describe a ghost or spirit. Most of the folklore in the Caribbean involves Duppies. Duppies are generally considered to be malevolent or restless spirits and can be very harmful. They can also be sent to others by using Obeah.

Good Duppies usually appear to you in a dream as a deceased family member or friend and generally give you advice or information.

The general consensus was that Duppies speak in high pitched, nasal voices and may make you feel like your head is expanding.  You also may become unexpectedly hot.
A Duppy can be chased away by eating salt, wearing your clothes inside out, or by cursing and exposing your private parts.
Many of the locals say they have seen them at night. Three of the most malicious spirits that were described to me were: the rolling calf, three footed horse, and the old higue. The Duppy originates in Bantu folklore. A Duppy is described as a manifestation of the soul of a dead person. They can manifest as a human or animal and are generally considered to be malevolent.

In Jamaica, the word Duppy comes from African folklore and the Ashanti people. The locals explained that in Obeah, a person is believed to possess a good soul and an earthly soul. When a person dies, the earthly spirit stays on earth for three days and the good soul goes to heaven to be judged by God.

During the three days after death, the earthly spirit remains with the body in the coffin, it can escape and appear as a duppy if the proper steps are not taken.

Don’t Feed the Trolls

“Don’t feed the trolls.”

“Don’t talk back. It’s what they want.”

Is that really true? Does ignoring trolls actually stop the trolling?

Does anyone have real true statistics and numbers on that advice?

I’ve ignored a lot more trolls than I’ve acknowledged but for some reason, that does not seem to have any influence on the amount of disgustung, hateful messages that arrive  in my inbox on the daily.

When I speak my mind, I usually receive a tsunami of  hate or absolutely nothing. It seems like the more direct my blogs are, the more troll-age I receive.  My favorite response from others is, “If you can’t handle it, get off the internet.”

But my response to that is, “why do people tolerate this and do absolutely nothing?”

Why should I have to rearrange my life, live in fear, change careers, move, change my phone number just because some narcissist decided he thinks I’m ugly because I refused to date him?

The most common advice I hear is, “Just don’t read the comments.”

Um yeah okay. These trolls have already published my photos, phone numbers and addresses (home and work) online. Is anyone aware that this is a harassment tactic known as “doxing?”

I’ve even had fake sex, dating and escort ads created using my phone number, address, and photos which resulted in creepy men showing up at my front door.  But ignore it right? Because that’s not dangerous or anything.

It’s one thing to post an opinion online. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but threats, harassment and stalking are REAL criminal offenses and law enforcement should be involved. Most law enforcement rely on the laws in order to determine whether or not cyber trolls are committing criminal offenses but most law enforcement officers do not know how to deal with online harassment anyway and that is why I recommend consulting an attorney.

In my situation, things became tricky when we discovered that the majority of my stalkers and harassers lived in a different state. This complicated things greatly because then you have to rely on state laws to uphold restraining/protective orders and determine if criminal charges can be filed. Luckily, I live in a state that recognizes cyber harassment and stalking as a criminal offense.

There are also federal laws in place but there are improvements that need to be made within each state so that all states are on the same page. Otherwise, state law enforcement must wait for federal law enforcement to step in. The worst part about this is that the victim or target (which is the term I prefer) must initiate this process beginning with requesting a personal protective order (or restraining order) after filing a police report with their local law enforcement. I recommend contacting your local domestic violence agency to help guide you in the process (especially if you know your stalker/troll/harasser and especially if there were threats made to you or your family members.

Social media companies advise you to report abuse but it is a tedious, time consuming process and most reports are rejected. Do it anyway and keep records of EVERYTHING. Not just screen shots. Keep copies of the actual links. They also tell you to block the offending parties but we all know that trolls have more than one account and the can and will just make new accounts and start all over again.

I’d just like to know why people accept this behavior and do absolutely nothing about it but say, “well… that’s just part of being online.”

Seriously?!? I guess we should all just accept rape, theft, murder, etc because it’s just part of being human?!? Ummm nope. Wrong answer.

Why don’t we hold people accountable for their actions? I think that would be a great start. If we stop tolerating unacceptable and abusive behavior, it WILL decrease I’m sure.

Laws need to change so that law enforcement CAN do something about it. Most people who engage in trolling behavior, do it from anonymous or fake accounts so let’s start exposing their arses whenever we can! Most trolls would NEVER do or say the things they do if their identity was known.

But we can’t change something if everyone ignores it and hopes that it will go away.

This quote comes to mind:

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. ” ~Edmund Burke

You can choose to ignore problems or pretend they don’t exist because they haven’t happened to you or someone you care about BUT… in the meantime, you and everyone you love is at risk if you’re reading this. Because it can happen to ANYONE FOR ANY REASON. Just because you exist. If you think it isn’t a big deal, then good for you. That means you are absolutely 100% agreeable to ANY and EVERY piece of personal information of yours and anyone you’ve ever loved being posted across the internet for the world to see. Before you respond with, “I don’t care. I have nothing to hide.” Just remember that trolls don’t care about the TRUTH! So if you’re okay with being accused of ridulous, horrific things that you’ve never even heard of…for anyone and everyone to see and never to be removed from the world’s view….  or you’re fine with someone anonymously threatening to rape your children, then by all means …. let me applaud you for your balls of steal and ability to afford 24/7 bodyguards for you and your loved ones and while I’m at it …. let me applaud you with a huge CONGRATS for being in a position where you will never need to rely on your reputation to get a job, loan, a business or anything else in life. Because the internet DOES affect REAL LIVES.

Dear Paranormal Community (aka Dave Spinks, Country Roads Paranormal Investigations and Society of the Supernatural member):

Please hold sadistic, abusive, people accountable for thier abusive, threatening, and dangerous behaviors. People like Dave Spinks should be held accountable for his perverted and criminally abusive behaviors. He is clearly interested in hurting, degrading, demeaning, and inflicting agony upon others and will clearly go to great lengths to do so. It takes a lot of time and energy to create at least 4 fake, impersonating email accounts and then 4 more fake WordPress accounts just to post demeaning, abusive, threatening and humiliating comments to a blog that he had no reason to visit in the first place.

No respectable man would ever engage in this type of behavior. Everyone makes mistakes but Dave has proven that this is far beyond a one time mistake. The fact that he chose such demeaning, sadistic email names and the middle and last name of my ex-boyfriend whom he has also been targeting (before he started targeting me ) which was since March 2015, is just disturbing at best.

Let me be clear when I say that I have never had a desire to date Dave and when I made myself clear on that, I did so privately. So it is unacceptable for him to post these types of perverted, sadistic comments PUBLICLY.

Also, please be aware that Dave has never been invited to my home (unless he is stalking me) so AGAIN… I am not sure why he is commenting as the PARANORMAL COMMUNITY discussing my PERSONAL life. (with inaccurate information that has nothing to do with paranormal community)

Note the time stamps, email addresses and then IP addresses confirming WHERE the comments came from:

At one time, I considered Dave a friend. I even included him in MY hometown interviews with MY local newspaper in 2014 to help him out when he was first getting started. Again, HELPING HIM!

https://youtu.be/NtstSgJa4b8

I’m typically willing to let bygones be bygones but not when I am the target of repeated criminal offenses like threats, stalking, and harassment on a regular basis for nearly 2 years by a man WHO CLAIMS TO BE A RETIRED FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER.

He knows EXACTLY what he is doing. All because I was not interested in having a romantic relationship with him. But again, what does MY personal life have to do with anything Paranormal Community related? And why does he feel as though he can speak for the entire community?

Now if we are going to call in to question credibility and community concerns, let us first look at FACTS. I did nothing but help Dave until I felt uncomfortable and feared for my safety around him because I was not romantically interested in him and this angered him. That’s when I stopped working with him (and so did a few other females in the community because none of us felt safe) when we found out that he was violent and had been arrested:

http://arre.st/WV-1005126106

Did Niki and I make this public? No. We just stopped working with him. And this is when all of the trolling and harassment started for me. Particularly after I appeared on Livescifi in March of 2015 and my relationship with Tim was made public.

If you look at facts just from today, he used 4 separate email (one using Tim’s middle and last name) (CREEPY AND CRIMINAL) and WordPress accounts to post perverted, humiliating, defamatory comments to my blog within a 2 hour (actually 40 minute) period. (Check the time stamps for yourselves)

The IP addresses from the email accounts and blog comments are PROOF that they came from him directly as he was arrogant enough to use his own crptv@gmail.com account to post disgusting and sexually explicit comments to my blog. In addition, there is proof that he also posted a copy of the comment on my blog to a defamatory fake dating complaint post on a revenge website solely used to defame others.

Thanks to some good research of the IP and email addresses he used, we now know that Dave Spinks is proven to troll and stalk women online with the sole purpose of humiliating them and threatening them.  This behavior is a sign of a sadistic-aggressive personality who is abusive and disrespectful.

It’s dangerous to think there’s any way for any woman to be truly safe around Dave. There’s really no way to be completely safe or to be unaffected by the psychological damage that Dave intends to inflict on whomever he deems to be his target.  Most sadists develop a special fascination with a particular “target,” taking a sense of “ownership” over that target and exacerbating the risk associated with the target trying to break free. This is obvious as witnessed by the brutal attacks and threats made just within a two hour (40min) period. This does not include the two years of harassment and stalking that can be linked to Dave now using emails and IP addresses. Dave’s behavior is typical of a sadistic predatory psychopath. This type of person is, without question, one of the most dangerous people on the planet. People like Dave take great satisfaction in manipulating and controlling others… usually through fear.

I am extremely concerned for my safety and the safety of other women and especially children within the community if Dave happens to target them like he did me. This type of person does not just do this one time. In this case, Dave should know better as he claims to be a retired FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER.
Given the posts, which are sitting in my email inbox (available in this blog as screenshots) and could easily be pulled up for review of authenticity in addition to matching IP addresses and WHOIS information, Dave is a very dangerous individual.

I will be reporting this information to law enforcement for investigation but it doesn’t take a cop to figure out just how disturbing and criminal Dave’s behavior is.

So I will leave you with some things to consider before you make up a bunch of BS excuses to ignore this sadistic and abusive behavior because “Dave is such a nice guy.”

Would you want YOUR daughter, wife, sister, girlfriend, niece, aunt, cousin or any other female that you care about to receive these type of messages and comments?

Would you want YOUR daughter, wife, sister, girlfriend, niece, aunt, cousin or any other female that you care ever so slightly for to be left in a dark, remote location with this man who may or may not take a fancy to her and when she turns him down, then what?

Can you HONESTLY say that you’d feel comfortable with this type of man having access to YOUR daughter, wife, sister, girlfriend, niece, aunt, cousin or any other female that you care ever so slightly for’s address, phone number, email, or contact info?

If so, read these emails again and let them really sink in…..

Note the audacity to send one signed “Love, Dave Spinks” from his CRPTV email address and then notice how he feels important enough to speak for the ENTIRE PARANORMAL COMMUNITY in his comment addressed “Dear Cindie Harper” …. Then note the matching IP addresses and time stamps….. now picture a MAN saying these things out loud to a female that you care about all because she posted a blog that had nothing to do with him (or so she thought).

Do you really think this type of man should be given authority and a platform in OUR community?

This behavior is criminal and dangerous. It’s unacceptable and uncalled for. If he treats the living in this manner (unprovoked) then does anyone REALLY believe that he will respect the dead? A RETIRED FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER SHOULD KNOW BETTER.

Also, please take note of WHERE the IP ADDRESS IS LOCATED: HYATTSVILLE MARYLAND.

Now who has ALSO been known to stalk me and was issued a restraining order and has ties to HYATTSVILLE MARYLAND?!

Note the time and date stamps on each one and the IP addresses. Feel free to google it yourself.
